Generation Guiders believes that girls are the key to breaking the cycle of poverty for everyone. The issues that Kenyan girls face--exposure to early pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, gender based violence, and unequal access to education--often keep them from realizing their full potential. Generation Guiders focuses on giving girls the tools they need to combat these issues and lead healthy, fulfilling lives.

On Sunday, October 11th, in celebration of International Day of the Girl Child, Generation Guiders and Tulia Girls Program put on an all-girls football tournament. An estimated 2,000 girls from 20 schools in Nairobi's disadvantaged Githurai district came together. Through the power of sport, they learned goal-setting, teamwork, leadership, and gained self-worth. Moreover, they had fun. Generation Guiders also led sessions about Sexual and Reproductive Health, which are crucial things for a girl to learn if she is to have control over her family, her education and her life.
